William E. Kurtin, Ph. D., Professor Emeritus, Department of Chemistry, Trinity University

Dr. Bill Kurtin regularly conducts studies on the distillation and analysis of essential oils and hydrosols. He continues to research the chemistry of essential oils and why they are so effective in transdermal absorption and inhalation through massage therapy and aromatherapy. He is a co-presenter with Lyn in their six-hour seminar for Texas Massage Therapists.

Bill has done presentations that include the analysis of oils and hydrosols at the molecular level using gas chromatography - mass spectrometry which can indication the quality and effectiveness of an individual essential oil. His extensive background in Organic Chemistry "grounds" the practice of Aromatherapy in scientific research and literature. Among the university-level courses he has taught are:

Biochemistry and Laboratory                       Molecular Spectroscopy
Advanced Biochemistry                               Instrumental Analysis
